City Presents C/A Combo at Open House
Aug. 30, 2002
On Wednesday, August 21, 2002, the City presented a new proposed design (the “C/A Combo” design) for SH-121T in the IH-30 area. About 100 people attended the Open House, which was held at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Oak Hall. Also attending in addition to local area residents were representatives from surrounding neighborhood associations and business owners along the IH-30 and Vickery Street corridor. The Open House began with an hour-long informal viewing of the new proposed design, along with the originally proposed Alternatives A and C. Representatives from the City, TxDOT, and NTTA were available during the Open House for questions. The City’s Project Management team conducted a brief formal presentation, which was followed by an hour-long question and answer period.
A number of speakers asked questions or commented on subjects ranging from the specific design being proposed to the general project development process for SH-121T, including the status of the environmental process and the impact of the proposed C/A Combo on the process. (As the C/A Combo is comprised of elements from existing Alternatives A and C already under study in the environmental process, there would be no impact from this combined design.) Several speakers questioned the potential impact of the elevated sections of the C/A Combo on neighborhoods. These ramps, providing direct access from IH-30 to SH-121T over Forest Park Boulevard, would be 10 feet lower than the ramps providing the same access in Alternative C, and would be no higher than the current ramps at Rosedale Street.
Comments on the proposed design were generally supportive, and representatives from TxDOT also indicated their general support of the C/A Combo. The City and its Project Management Team will continue to refine this new design at SH-121T/IH-30 as part of the City’s efforts to identify a locally-preferred alternative for input into TxDOT’s environmental clearance process.
